It was a pleasant experience to stay in the Ivy House hotel! The quality of the place was much better than I hade expected. Having travelled around I came to London really tired. It was raining and cold. I had booked a single room with shared bathroom/toilet in Ivy House for two nights because it is close to Victoria Station. Some of the negative feedback I had read on the place made me doubtful, and I did not expect much. But the reception by the owner was welcoming, and sympathetic towards the wet and tired elderly. As the available single rooms were upstairs, he was ready to provide me a room downstairs instead. As I expressed my surprise of the newness, cleanness and freshness of the facility, and the good condition of my room especially, I found out that the whole place had been repaired thoroughly a couple of months earlier. And even the noise level by the train station and passing trains had gone down. My room on the street side was quiet. It was clean and warm. Naturally, when I am not ready to pay much, the facilities of a more expensive hotel room were not there, but for anyone needing a basic accommodation for a night or two, the place meets the expectations. And it is a really short walking distance away of Victoria train and tube stations. The hotel does not offer a breakfast, but the short walk to Victoria provides a variety of places to eat whatever you want. When staying around Victoria station I always take a breakfast there instead of the hotel, on my way to flights or the centre of the city. I had been informed that the hotel does not have an internet connection, but it was there now. And a TV in the room as well. I was very satisfied with my stay, and will definitely stay there in the future as well, when I come to London, either on my own or with the husband.

Located within a 5 minute walk to Victoria Train Station, this quaint hotel is quite sufficient for a single traveller. Checking in was relatively easy and painless; the counter person was polite yet aloof, and the room was cleaner than expected, with everything I needed to enjoy my stay, nearly (see cons). The tea/coffee set was ample and cute, and there were two complimentary (I assume) bottles of water for those who like their tap water bottled and sealed in plastic. On the first floor, I enjoyed a window which opened onto a mini balcony with a view to the street, and was delighted to see the room came with a tower/rotating fan - an essential for helping me sleep. Check out was easy and the time of 10am left me the opportunity to sleep in.

The location is great its Centrum. Next to Victoria Train, Big Ben, London eye Westminster Abbey. Neighbourhood nice and good place to start visiting the city. We had a private shower and toulet in the room, the bed was comfortable. If you are not looking for luxury and you are coming to London and want to only sleep somewehere then IT Will meet your expectation.

Very good location (5 minutes walk to Victoria station, shops, pub and places to eat nearby) and although basic, was nice and clean. We had a room with own bathroom (there are rooms here with shared too) but wasn't expensive. We needed to be in the area unexpectedly for an unplanned event and was very convenient for us.

Georgeta

The room was ok, we had 2 beds so there was enough space. Location was excellent, just a few steps from Victoria station and a lot of pubs and restaurants are close by. The room had an electric heater which made our life easier, we appreciate that. All in one it was ok, we would come back.
